The Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, His Excellency Most Rev. Tomasz Grysa, today celebrated Holy Mass with the Poor Clare Sisters at their monastery in Mbarara on the Solemnity of St. Francis of Assisi.
The Nuncio was welcomed by Most Rev. Lambert Bainomugisha, Archbishop of Mbarara, who hosted the celebration. He was joined by Most Rev. Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, Archbishop of Gulu, and Rt. Rev. Constantine Rupiny, Bishop of Nebbi, who concelebrated the Holy Mass.
The celebration came a day after the bishops had joined the Church in Kabale for the Episcopal Ordination and Installation of Rt. Rev. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire as the new Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
The presence of the bishops with the Nuncio at the Poor Clare Monastery was a visible sign of ecclesial communion and appreciation for the contemplative vocation of the sisters, whose lives are dedicated to prayer and the service of the Church.
As the Church celebrated St. Francis of Assisi, the Mass offered an opportunity to give thanks for the saint’s witness of humility, simplicity and love for Christ, while also praying for the Church and its mission in Uganda.
The celebration brought together the Church’s pastoral and contemplative dimensions in a spirit of prayer, fraternity and thanksgiving.
